When I
was in high school, ages 16-18, we had Ford Pinto as a "kid's car."
I was very grateful to have a car to drive because of the freedom it
gave me, but I never liked that car. It was an ugly blue, it was cramped
and small inside, and it had a terrible radio.
But the
worst part was that it had no power. Here's a scenario that repeated
itself more often than I care to remember. I'd be driving along and
turn on to get on the freeway. As I started up the ramp, I'd put my
foot to the gas and push it all the way down to the floor. At first
nothing would happen. Then I'd hear this loud "engine revving"
sound and the car would s-l-o-w-l-y start to accelerate.
Meanwhile,
people behind me would be honking at me for being so slow, and people
in the left lane who were already cruising down the freeway would point
and laugh. I could do nothing but smile, nod and wait for the Pinto
to finally get up to 55 MPH. Even when the Pinto finally got up to the
speed limit and was driving along OK in the right lane, "the slow
lane," I'd see car after car passing me on the left and even if
I pushed the gas pedal down further, I couldn't match their speed.
I hated
how it made me feel to drive that car. It was embarrassing. I didn't
like being so slow. I felt "small." And I certainly didn't
like people honking or laughing at me.
Later in
life, after leaving college and going out into "the real world,"
I realized that deep down I felt a similar way about my life. I always
seemed to be driving along "in the slow lane" while I saw
others zooming by me at high speeds, achieving all kinds of amazing
goals and living fantastic lifestyles. I felt kind of like a beggar
with his nose to the window watching others at the party, but not being
invited in.
It felt
like no matter how hard I worked, how far to the floor I pushed my gas
pedal, something was always holding me back and limiting my speed, and
there was always someone with a faster car, so to speak, who'd zoom
by me, laughing and pointing (or so I imagined).
Can you

Quick Story ...
For the
last 7 years, as you probably know, I was working hard on a variety
of consulting and business-building projects that consumed a lot of
my time and energy. As a result, the only way I could share my systems
and technologies was through "remote delivery." By that I
mean, for many years, I've been sharing information primarily through
books, home study courses, and teleseminars - not live and in person
